Any Favorite Go Go bass players?

Sign in to disble this ad
Just wondering if anyone has a favorite go go bass player. Now the go go Im talking about is the style that comes out of DC/MD area with bands like Junkyard, Backyard, NE Groovers, and the like (or EU, the band that did "Doin The Butt" for the layman). Just never seen any of them get a shout out.

sugar bear is sick.
it's a shame go go players haven't got the notoriety they deserve.
just as important if not more so as the old punk/fugazi thing to me.
hot women go to go go shows too... as opposed to a bunch of teenage boys climbing all over each other (we all have our preferences i suppose).
the scene is stll hanging on, but has been screwed somewhat due to a lot of violence at shows unfortunately.

I love Go Go.
I grew up in the DC area, and used go see bands like Trouble Funk. I don't remember the bassist's name, but he was funky as heck---I'm gonna look him up . . . .

I don't know the bassist's name, but whoever played on Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers "Bustin' Loose" is a monster!

"Big" Tony Fisher was the killin' bassist of Trouble Funk. Still out there playing! I have many fond memories of his great presence.
