I watch BET Jazz (studio jams, smooth jazz tv, jazz central) a lot, and Austin City Limits. Any good bass players out there on TV that I'm missing?

The late night talk shows are a good source to check out - the downer is that the bands aren't shown for that long. Will Lee has played with along with Paul Shaffer on David Letterman's show since the beginning. That's on at 11:35 on CBS. Mike Merritt is on with The Max Weinberg Seven on Conan O'Brien which is on at 12:35 on NBC.

Ricky Minor plays on "American Idol" with the house band. "AI" judge Randy Jackson is a great bassist but doesn't play on the show.

Some of the groovingest players are found on late-night TV alright!

When Arsenio Hall had his show, he had one John Williams laying down the funk! Jay Leno's band has one smoking bassist too (wish I could remember who it is though), Emerill has a kick-ass house band too with some serious bass work!

Robert Hurst was the original (during the Jay Leno years) and I can't remember who the current guy is.

Saturday Night Live has had Marcus Miller, T-Bone Wolk, Tom Barney.

i would say BET Jazz is your best bet. I've seen Wooten on there many times(not just studio jams), Stanley Clarke has a show called "On the Road with Stanley Clarke" which even had Marcus Miller in one episode, Wayman Tisdale, John Pattitucci, Jon Reshard, Oteil Burbridge, and several others i can't think of have all been on there before. However, i've stopped watching it so much after they changed it to BET J

I think so, i'm not sure what team he played for. His music is pretty cool imo. Since alot of people listen to smooth jazz, he is really helping expose lead bass playing to the public
