I found a pic of James when he was younger. You may be right. I was asking because as I listened to it, I thought it sounded like Jerry Jemmott. But it's not him.

Yeah, from that icky old Acoustic behind him. Amazing. Did they make a guitar amp that looks just like this, or is he playing through a bass amp (and, it would appear, cab too)?

Acoustic made guitar amps too, though they were never very popular. All of their amps had the same color scheme and knobs.

I still think the 360 is the best bass amp ever.
