Any love out there for Joe Puerta of Ambrosia?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been revisiting the 'Ambrosia' back catalogue (after probably a year of being caught up in listening to other stuff) and not only are the songs, soundscapes, arrangements, grooves and vocals amazing but Joe Puerta's bass playing still thrills me as much as it always has....

Any other love for him out there?!

+1 I saw them play live at the Marine Stadium in Miami in 1980. Great band. He also contributed greatly to Bruce Hornsby and the Range.

Holding On To Yesterday is one of my fave slow jams. Sometimes I listen and think there's some time problems in that tune (don't flame me), but they were big enough that they probably did it the way they wanted to as opposed to it simply being sloppy.

How Much I Feel has another great line which borrows from Ringo Starr's Photograph.

His work with both Ambrosia and Bruce Hornsby & The Range is some great stuff. I saw Ambrosia open for Kansas back in the late 70s. Now, that was a fantastic concert.

Great lines, but I was thinking much more of his work in the more prog stuff like 'Time Waits For NoOne', 'Nice Nice Very Nice', 'Mama Frog' 'The Brunt' etc....

Man, that must have been awesome!! I was a huge fan of both of those bands back then, saw Kansas a few times, but never Ambrosia. That first Ambrosia album is a classic. As for Kansas, don't get me started. It's hard for me to keep my mouth shut when I hear musicians say the only song that Kansas was know for is "Carry On Wayward Son".

I always thought Road Island was one of their best and a very overlooked album!
