ANY SINGING BASSISTS OUT THERE ?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, All,

I am Kicklock, and I play the bass and sing lead, and harmony. I just wanted to know if there are any other bassplayers who sing out here in TB - Land.

Regards,

Kicklock.

Sure, I sing all the time. I bet lots of folks here on TB do. Every once in a while a thread will pop up where someone's looking for tips for singing & playing at the same time. It is hard, but practice develops the skill. It's great fun once you get it going.

I did about 1/3 lead and much backup during the 80's. Now, after years breathing the cr@p at the steel-mill and doubling my weight, I can only struggle through a couple a night.

X8 :-(

All the time. I use to sing lead in a thrash punk band that I was in, and in my newest group I trade leads between the drummer and rhythm guitarist as well as alot of Michael Anthony style backing vocals.

I sing most of the background vocals in my band. I also sing lead on a few as well and would love to do more, problem is we have a great lead singer.

Yep. I play upright and sing lead vocals in two bands (both my own bands, one authentic 50s, one jazz and blues), and play bass guitar and sing harmony in another (country).

Sure enough I sing quite a lot. I must say, though, I play bass better if I am not singing!

I always like to say: "I'm not a singer, I'm a vocalist." What I mean is:

Sting is a singer. Lemmy is a vocalist.
Cee Lo Green is a singer. Billy Gibbons is a vocalist.

See what I mean?

I sing lead and backgrounds. Not the world's greatest singer but I do a good job.

I used to play bass and sing lead back in the 70's and early 80's, but I screwed my voice up trying to belt it out and make myself heard using the woefully inadequate PA's of the day.

These days I can still sing OK but my voice isn't good enough for lead vox. I do all the backing vocals in the band, mostly unaided but I kick in a TC Helicon Harmony GXT every so often to add some additional harmonies.

I sing lead and backup. The quality of my vocals is pretty close to the quality of my playing (see my moniker).

Its not hard at all I sing all the time but it seems like my basslines have to be simpler at parts where I sing

I sing lead and backup. A little tricky sometimes, but gets a lot easier over time.
