What a great show! Were any of you there? It was neat to see Geddy's Rick make an appearance after all these years.

thats cool he was using the rick.. he said in the guitar world august that he prefers the sound of the jazz bass.. but to see his old rick again must of been sweet!

Perhaps one wonderous day his Wal will make another appearance...on record of course, they are far too precious to take on the road!

I'm going to be seeing Rush live in October, I can't wait!

What song(s) did the Rick make an appearance?

As far as the Wals being too valuable, I'm sure that's not a concern of his, given that he toured with them on a few different tours. Besides, what's the point in having a nice bass if you're not going to use it?

He uses it on "A Passage to Bangkok". I didn't think it compared favorably to the Jazz Basses. They were much more present in the mix.

Here's an image from an earlier show on the tour. Over the next few weeks I'll be seeing them in San Diego (inside the first 15 rows) and picking up my new Geddy Lee Jazz bass. [url]

Yes, but when he used them (1986-1991 on record, and as far as 1993 live) they were still in production and easy to get hold of. Now, if they got lost or damaged or worn out, he'd most likely never be able to get them replaced.

I was there, but I didn't see this thread untill just now. I only live a few minutes away from Saratoga, and wouldn't miss seeing Rush for anything. It was a great show, but where I was sitting in the upper deck, it was pretty boomy and I couldn't hear a lot of detail. They had the drums mic'd so loud, that was practically all I heard the entire show. None the less, it was a lot of fun.
