Any of You Pro Bassists ever played on a charted single/album?

Sign in to disble this ad
And if yes, what was it? (the song and/or album and band)

By charting I mean the billboard's top 100 (or so) in the USA..Or whichever chart from your country if outside North America..

Yep. I played bass on "There's Hope", the second single off of India.Arie's latest album, and it was #1 on Billboard for a couple of weeks. I even got a platinum plaque for it. LaMarquis Jefferson played on that album as well. As for Marq's charted albums list, it's too long!

The Bears first record charted somewhere in the 40s or 50s rock albums for a couple of weeks back in the mid eighties - we were in People magazine, Rolling Stone & a few other rags.

Woot.

I missed it by 'that much'. I played on the 'first take' of a song by a major R&B artist back in the 80's. Sadly, my part was replaced by another bassist! I guess that meant I sucked! I believe the song went Gold!

My first charting "single" was in early 1974 . . . Al Wilson's "Show and Tell", produced by Jerry Fuller and arranged by H. B. Barnum . . . #1 Billboard Hot Singles.

The most recent one was a couple'a months ago . . . Joan Sebastian's "Eso y Mas" produced by Joan Sebastian and arranged by the two of us (it's just his voice, his guitar and my fretless bass) . . . #6 Billboard Hot Latin Tracks.
The CD that contains that "single" also won a Grammy in 2006 (as well as 2 Latin Grammys)

No embarassment here...thanks very much.

If you haven't heard the one we released last year, give it a try - it's my best work.

Yeah . . . and on a lotta other stuff, too.

BTW, congrats to you, too, for your (relatively) recent successes.

Also congrats to nysbob . . . your continuing participation with that group of musicians says a LOT about your musical abilities and artistic sensibilities.

Good luck and long life to both of you guys . . .
