Just wondering if any TBers have Chicago dates coming up. I think it I'd like to check out some shows if they're available. When and where? And what genre does your music fit into?

July 22nd, Darkroom

Hi there. My drums/bass duo rock band is playing July 22nd at the Darkroom, if that's a venue you're familiar with. Too far away to be relevant? There are a lot of bands sort of getting press in that area right now for a revival of shoegaze music, for some reason.

I will be playing with my band June 22 at a club called the Darkroom.

We do what I call avant funk fusion.

It's part of the annual bass event I do call One Night Of Bass.

The other bass players who will also be performing that night will be,

Vuyani Wakaba
Bill Clements
Will Howard
Bill Dickens
Tim Seiser

And there will be everything from contemporary jazz, fusion, funk, etc. going on that night and it's all free.

Here's info on the venues location.

7pm

The Darkroom
2210 West Chicago Avenue
Chicago, IL 60622-4827
(773) 276-1411

Jauqo- I'm all over it. I saw you guys there last time and it was great. I like the acoustics of that place better than that dungeon in the Elbo Room.

Zombi - July 22nd, got it. I will be there. Thanks for the reply. I think you'll like the Darkroom - spacious and decently decorated for one of those hip and trendy bars. So are you telling me that you guys do shoegaze? Shoegaze was the one of the leading edges of rock in the early 90s when I was in college and that was all I listened to at that time. Very good memories. What's the name of your duo?

Thank you.

Come on out it's always a great time and an even better hang.

And yes the Darkroom has a killer sound overall.

Alan, we were born in the same year and both play Stingrays. I just checked out your page and I'll try to get down there on one of the Saturdays. My wife and I were just talking about taking the bike down to Starved Rock anyway. Great place to hang out.

jnuts, there's not link to anything in your profile. Do you have one to your band? EDIT: Duh.

Layover at Starved Rock Lodge or Grand Bear Lodge(if you have young kids) and hike the parks(Starved Rock State Park, Matthiessen State Park & Buffalo Rock State Park).
Our neighbors operate the live theater downtown Utica. For local dining. There are a lot of great places if you know where to go.

Utica has several nice B&Bs, the owner of Skoogs has a killer one and my neighbors that run the theatre oversee a really nice one right around the block from where we'll be playing.
