Anyone catch Esperanza Spalding?

Sign in to disble this ad
So, bored out of my gourd last night after the Super Bowl I am channel surfing and trip over Esperanza Spalding on Austin City Limits.

WOW!

I need to look into her stuff (her music you perv's) some more. Anyone else a fan?

I tell you what, I have seen some pathetic and lame garbage on ACL, but I have also seen some artists that I never would have been exposed to otherwise. Esperanza is definately one of the latter, I am glad I happened on her portion of the show last night.

I would hesitate to use the phrase "very good bassist" in any association with my name

I saw it. Great Great bass playing. I personally wasn't that much into the style of music but again, she rips up a bass. It looked like she was playing a fretless Fender Jazz with flats along with her upright.

Didn't catch the ACL, but I've seen her before on TV. Killer chops and singing voice, and really good-looking, too. Move over, Tal, you've got competition!

Amazing...thank you for posting this link. She's an incredible bassist and vocalist...I must catch one of her shows!

on a side note: looks like she is playing a Jaco Pastorius Fender Custom shop bass with flats on it

Why even mention Tal? It's not fair to Tal compare her to a headliner like Esperenza.

Agreed. Why compare? Apples and oranges. I caught ACL and watched for a while. Good player, nice voice, nice looking, too.
