If you don't know who he is, he's a Youtube star. The way people ride this guy's D is just insane. I mean come on. He's a rich kid with recording equipment that makes him sound better than he is. All he does is carbon copy Flea's style (He even named his band after a RHCP song, and have you seen his "improvs"?). He doesn't even play very difficult songs. I think the REAL best bassists on Youtube are people like Tony Dickinson who are constantly taking on challenges of extremely difficult songs. He's not a bad bassist, but it's sad to see all the hidden gems of Youtube washed out because of this kid.
On another note, I've yet to see a cover that surpasses this. Half of that wasn't even played by Cliff, just improvised with chord knowledge. |

I use Youtube quite a bit and I've never heard about a David Sin. |

| | | | I don't know who this person is, so I don't think he's stealing any spotlight. If he's good and likes to play for a Youtube audience, what's the matter? I know a rich kid with tons of gear, and nobody likes him any better than they like me or someone without the amount of gear.
I may be missing the point. The Metallica cover is pretty good though, definitely an interesting take. |

His videos are monkey see monkey do, with a little bit of his own twist. His technique is near flawless and he can copy the way flea sounds very well, but that’s it. There is minimal innovation involved. A lot of people say he is as good and some say he is better than Flea himself. But they are just ignorant. Sure we can copy flea, but that is far from being the musical genius of the man himself. |

He's a youtube bassist, seems to be a cool guy, and looks like he's having a hell of a time.
Also, he has said he's a software engineer, he's earned the money for his gear. |

| | | | I really don't see what there is not like about him. Great player, works hard to buy his basses, covers great song, has over 200 vids. People in the comments make him out to be the best player on Earth, which I strongly disagree with. But take this into account, he's only been playing since 2006, that's a lot less than about 60% of people here on TB. Got good chops for a player of 5 years.
NOTE: I also don't understand how people in the comments say he's better than Flea. He is just copying him to be fair.

Don't "hate" him per say. Just don't understand what the attraction is to someone who really isn't doing anything special, different, difficult or unique one bit at all.

He has a ton of basses, not so many expensive ones (I think the most expensive of his that ive seen is that MM Stingray of his), and alot of cheap but heavily modified ones... He certaintly aint a bass god like people make him out to be, but he is really good for the years he has been playing and he has a good tone in his band.
Loved the Primus cover of his with that Tuscany Bird (the Rick knock-off). He made me want to get one of those.

Spend a little more time playing your bass and take note to how things may turn out for you as a player. |

I wouldn't say he's average but the fandom surrounding him boggles my mind. I don't subscribe but I see his videos every now and again. Than again, I do really play the kind of music he does either.
