Does anyone play a 4er exclussively. Thats all I have ever owned. I have played 5ers and 6ers (borrowed) but didnt find the extended range any more usefull. I like BEAD and ADGC tunings and plan on adding them to my arsenal when possible. I just dont seem to like anything more than four strings.

I tried a friend of mine's 5 string and just wasn't feeling it.
I have been known to tune down to D standard, or just plain old drop D, if the mood permits.. |

Having said that, I would use a 5 string for it's low extension if it was given to me for free. Otherwise I just drop tune the E. Long live the 4 string: the original and the best. I feel a club coming on if someone else starts it.

Started out on 4-string.
Went to 6-string, then to 5-string.
No back to 4-string exclusively.
I liked all three, but due to hand injury it's 4 string only now. |

For lower notes, I have a bass tuned BEAD.

| | | | I have a 34" 4 string which I consider setting up for B-E-A-D tuning, a 28 5/8" 4 string barytone originaly set up for A-D-G-C tuning which I recently set up for E-A-D-G tuning, but are planing to set it back to original A-D-G-C tuning, and then I'm getting a Ibanez Mikro 28 1/2" which I am planing to use for standard tuning E-A-D-G. So yes I am exclusively 4 string player, if you don't count guitar which I'm also playing.

| | | | I have only played 4 string basses. I have tried some friends' 5 strings and they did nothing for me or my sound. I never de-tune either. The first bass I ever bought was a used Ensign bass with only 3 strings since the tuning gear for the G was broken. Needless to say, I could not wait to buy a new bass with all the strings intact. |

| | EXCITER Bassist Endorsing Artist: Neal Moser Guitars, DR Strings | | Join Date: Nov 2008 Location: Ottawa, Canada | | All 6 of my basses are 4 stringers. I've never needed any more, and I have fairly small hands, so a 5 or 6 (or more) stringer wouldn't be comfortable for me to play anyway.
