Try this for starters
12 fret G harmonic=G
9th fret D harmonic=Gb or F# as a #9
9th fret A harmonic=Db
Fret the Eb on the E string=Eb#9 chord. Fun stuff! It's the first harmonic he hits as Brecker ends his solo....

Amelia had me fairly well transported. Unfortunately there was a lot of cutting away, odd cinematic artistic fills that sort of made me lose interest over the long haul.
Also, IMO the entire thing was mixed very bass heavy. It really kind of put me off. It's probably me but I thought that the look on Brecker's face when he put his horn down after his solo was telling. |

The "idiot director", I believe, was Joni. This was originally released on Laser Disk (remember them?) and was put together by Joni herself. Hence the "artsy crap". I do wish she had featured the band more, especially Jaco. Still, it is a great band and a fun video to watch and hear. |

I have use the tabs and some transcriptions to help Capture the essence or the spirit/style of his playing.
Actually one other question for you Jaco fans/afficionados, anyone come across an accurate transcription of Jacos Barbary Coast solo?
Always diggin' me some Jaco!

Listen closely to 'Talk to Me' and you'll hear the Jaco overdubbed a second bass part, and he plays some just NASTY little rhythmic stuff ....unbelievable....

While many solos are memorable moments, unless it is a note for note integral part of the song structure, they are improvisations. What the player is feeling at that moment released into his fingers and then out to the listener.
So to search for a transcription or tab (ugh) of a solo while perhaps a worthy physical exercise. it only describes (if accurate) what was played at that moment. Listen to Jaco, listen to everything he does, no one solo is ever the same as the last- especially within the same song.
My point ? The solo is yours. To imagine , construct and play spontaneously in accordance to how you feel at the moment.
That is the essence of playing and Jaco knew this all too well. |

My favorite album of all time!

My first concert in 68 was Joni, Paul Butterfield and Tim Hardin for $3. Just Joni and her acoustic guitar and piano. It's the only time I saw her. I went to Dylan's Rolling Thunder review in large part due to her being part of the tour. She wasn't part of the show I saw. She had a few decent musicians on her albums all right.
