Asia/Yes Touring

Yeah I know it doesn't have Jon Anderson & Rick Wakeman but a chance to see John Wetton & Chris Squire on the same night! I've seen Yes a few times in their many forms but missed seeing Asia when they had to cancel the portion of the tour that I had tixs for in 2007. So this time God willing I'll see 'em. Maybe they should this tour the "bad circulation tour 2009." But I'm pretty happy to be seeing this.

Cheers

Awesome, Wetton is one of my top 3 and I've seen Asia twice in the last 2 years. GREAT shows! I've seen Rush 10 times and as good as Geddy is at playing and singing simultaneously, John Wetton has him beat - excellent singer with great bass lines; I did not know he is as good and effortless as he is until I saw him live. If you haven't seen him live, check this out. Asia will incorporate songs from all the members prior groups into the show as well as Asia originals. They did "Roundabout" and "Court of the Crimson King" last time.....oh yeah, they do "Video Killed the Radio Star" too! Downes was in the Bugles. Steve Howe looks like he's 137 years old, but he still rocks! Check it out.

I saw Yes in concert in April, 1979 "in the round". Their stage rotated slowly, so there wasn't a bad seat in the house. Never saw Asia, but was also a big Emerson, Lake and Palmer fan back in the early - mid 70s. I think Greg Lake also fronted Asia, right? Sounds like the makings of a good concert to me!

Yes, Greg Lake did front Asia.

at one point in their first few years John Wetton quit (or was kicked out - depending on whose story you want to believe) and was replaced by Greg Lake.

There is a concert video out from Russia that has Lake clearly fronting them.

From what I recall last year, Wetton has carpal tunnel syndrome so bad that he can only play with his thumb these days. While it's been said that he does a good job of adapting, it's not his playing of old you will see.

Yeah,I remember Greg Lake fronting ASIA when they did a live concert on MTV back in the early/mid 80's.He sang Heat of the Moment very flat and they had their initial break-up shortly thereafter.

No offence to the Asia fans but I'd much rather see YES without an opening band.

I stand, or sit, corrected. Thanks for the information. :-)
