So, I saw the Christians got their own one, and I thought why not make one for the ungodly ones of us aswell? I know you're out there. Criterias? Well, this club is for you who have no diety of worship. Wether you are agnostic or gnostic, LaVeyan Satanist, Antitheist or whatever is irrelevant, we accept everyone.
You can start by introducing yourself. Who are you? Where are you from? How do you define yourself in this context? Did you figure it out yourself, or were you influenced by others? Do you believe in anything? What kind of music do you prefer? Do you write music yourself? Do you present your views through music? Or do you feel it's personal?
Me? I'm a 17 year old norwegian boy, and prefer to define myself as a existentialistic, materialistic agnosti-atheist. I trust my senses, and do not feel specific need for believing in anything else. With Norway being arguably the most secular country in the world, it was not particularly hard for me to acquire my set of beliefs. I started questioning religion when I was six or seven but it never mattered to me. However, alot of stuff (stuff I'd rather not get into on a public forum) in my early teens suddenly made the threat of hell very real. And so I spent alot of time trying to figure out what the hell was going on, and it eventually led to me declining every form of belief I had.
I like all kinds of music, genre does not matter to me. The only thing that truly matters is that it's good music. I write alot of music myself mostly jazz and progressive rock, and I do not hide the fact that the lyrics (and titles of my instrumentals) are very critical to religion.
Here are some myths I'd like to cover just so we avoid the inevitable attacks from pious religious. Atheists are satanists.
In a way, yes. Satan is the, I believe, hebrew word of "nemesis" or "opposite". Yes, we are the opposites of the religious, but it's not likely that an atheist performs satanic deeds. Some are also LaVeyan satanists, which is not the equivalent of devil worshipping. Atheists are 100% percent sure there is no god, if not they are agnostic.
This is incorrect. Atheism is the lack of belief in a God. Atheist musicans only play black metal.
No. Atheists are evil.
No more than anyone else. Atheists have no moral code.
Atheists have the same moral code as everyone else in society. Atheists are depressed, sad and suicidal.
Unlikely. Atheists love to debate, because it makes them feel smart.
Well, no! I mean... Oh, who am I kidding? You are an atheist because you just want to live an immoral lifestyle.
Sounds like somebody is jealous! (thanks tekhedd!)
So, come on! Unite! PM for numbers.

I'm with you...with my life the way it is now, I don't find myself in need of a faith in a higher power. Honestly, I have no idea what the heck is going to happen when I leave this existence, but rather than worry about it I just make the most of the time I've got here. I grew up in a Methodist church, and I'm glad I did, as it is a church that fosters free thinking. I met some cool people that I still keep in touch with even though I no longer attend church, aside from traditional Christmas and Easter services, mostly to please my grandmother.
Oh, and I only play BLACK METAL. That should be a prerequisite for this club. |

Agnostic, pretty much sick of the sea of self-contradictions... Just don't feel it.
Reppin' the FSM!

But yeah, Agnostic here.

I still like my friends who are religious and other TBers who have religion working great for them. I hope they can respect that I haven't been able to find a religion that jives with how my brain rationalizes the world.
As for musical genres, I especially like 80's new wave, 80's greasy funk with the synth bass lines, 80's goth, 80's Britpop, 80's New Romatics, Plastic Soul, anything Bowie, some early 90's "alternative." I mostly like a lot of bands that got their start in the late 70's/early 80's. No, this is not why I don't have religion, LOL!

It is merely an oppositional movement to christianity, and named thereafter. |

Agnostics are not people who refuse to commit to a position. They do commit to a position, and a rather strong one at that - namely, that it is impossible, in principle, either to prove or to disprove the existence of god, and therefore it is most rational simply to suspend judgment about the issue one way or the other. |

100% atheist here. Sign me up. I've never read Dawkins, he sounds like a complete jerk in interviews though. There's no need.
