BAD BASSISTS

Sign in to disble this ad
We always here who our favorite bassists are, but lets hear what professional bassists we love to hate.

For me it would be AC/DC's Cliff Williams, I love AC/DC, but I hate the bass player. He just plays the root note in 8th notes, in every song! It gets so boring.

Boring yes but perfect for AC/DC.I dont think they would be were they are if they had a busy player.
Any ways my vote for bassist I can do with out would have to be Jason Newstead, too arrogant in every interview I have read and have seen him perform a few times and wasnt personaly impressed, just my opinion.

Well, you could say the same thing about the bassist from Scorpions (Francis Buchholz at one point...not currently in the band anymore??). Anyway, he never really stood out, but...it worked perfectly for them!

Bad bassist??

ME!

Like an impotent husband. My vote for a bad bassist, though (as long as I'm posting...), goes to Sid Vicious. I realize that he was all about image, but as a player, well, the dude couldn't play.

I hate Bob Rock the noob who tried to play bass 4 Metallica after Newsted left Of course he got the boot when Trujillo came along and preaty much every glam bassist, not nessecarily of how they played but glam metal has got to be the most homosexual thing on the face of the earth *(in my oppinion)

Professional bassists who I think have lousy skills and no redeeming qualities?

Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy- Can the guy even play? All he does is noisily strum the darned thing and try to look cool by bashing it about. Plus, he's a glory hog with a swelled head.

Even other "bad" bassists like Fieldy and Mark Hoppus (who TBers love to desecrate) I can at least find ONE redeeming quality in, but I can find absolutely none in Wentz. So Pete Wentz is my pick for worst pro bassist.

I do still think Fieldy's an arrogant, ignorant jack@$$, though.

In the case of Cliff Williams, you describe him as "bad." Maybe not flashy, but certainly not bad.

Noob? Anything but.

Rock is an accomplished engineer/producer who has worked with Metallica since The Black Album and worked with many other successful acts over many years. He was just filling in for Newstead until they found a permanent replacement.

Google his name, you'll learn something.

Adam Clayton of U2. Very "clangy" style and his bass lines are boring at best
