Bakithi's new SC Fretless

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,
Any fans of Paul Simon and Bakithi Kumalo will probably know that Bakithi is back touring with Paul for his new album. I saw a performance on BBC2 the other week and for a couple of the songs Bakithi was playing a single-cut fretless that I've never seen him play before and don't know enough to identify it. I know he's been an endorsee/endorser for Washburn and Lakland recently but it's pretty unlikely it's made by either of those. It has the most beautiful tone (although that might just be his fingers because I don't think the bass he played on graceland was anything too amazing and its probably my favourite fretless tone) and it looks great too.
Here's some youtube clips of it

and I just saw he's got a fretted one too, with a different top wood

If anybody can identify the brand (and models, while you're at it ) I'd be grateful. Thanks.

He also plays a Godlyke Deity 5.

I had never heard of Godlyke so I checked out the website and had a look at the artists page. Bakithi wasn't there ...but apparently they're endorsed by a small bass-loving rodent..

The fretless four is a NY Bass Loft (Bakithi Kumalo's bass,
the 5-string is a Kenneth Lawrence Chamberbrase. EDIT: Or not. The absence of the Squidstock™ made me doubt that...
