Band songs obviously derived from jam sessions

I've been listening to Rush's Presto album, which is not on my high rotation list, along with some of their other 80's albums...

But after listening to Show Don't Tell enough times, it seems pretty obvious there were some cool jam sessions with all three guys that created the wicked bass lines Geddy plays against Neil's drumming. They captured the ingredients and vibe of the jam into that song.

Other Rush songs that come to mind are Freewill and YYZ. Early Black Sabbath also had that feel of jam sessions churning out cohesive songs.

What other bands, bassists and songs spring to mind where it seems obvious there were some major jam sessions behind the songs?

was watching a vid of finger 11 (live from daryl's house) where they went to a cabin to meet a buddy for a photo shoot. the guy had troubles getting there so the band packed up. they were just about to leave when the guy showed up so the set there stuff back up, started to play and that jam was where Paralyzer was born . . .

Most songs on Black Sabbaths self-titled album were recorded in one take.

And that was 1970... that just doesn't happen very often nowadays.

Most (if not all) QotSA riffs and songs are taken from long jam sessions and made into the tunes they are today!

I think all of Rush's songs were formed this way. They record jam sessions and then try to pick out special moments to build on.

Maybe their early stuff, but over the last couple of albums Geddy and Alex arrange the music and send it to Neil in LA. For this last album S&A they were put in the studio together and did jam, and did a lot of their arranging on acoustic guitar vs keyboards.

Pretty much all of Animals Should Not Try To Act Like People EP, the last release from Primus was created within the first 45 minutes of jamming or something like that after they reunited and started playing again.

So how does one differentiate between written parts and jammed parts?
