Bass Player on Guitar?

So, do you think this guy picked up some of this technique from bass?

I've seen this video before, Justin Kings the man.

Some of his technique seems like something from a slapper or upright bassist, it would be cool if in fact it was a transition of instruments but using a different technique.

I've always loved this video. Yet I doubt he got his technique from bass. A lot of guitarists use tapping and some do indeed play slap. Its rare, but as you can see, quite amazing!

Wow amazing playing! I'm pretty sure he got some of his technique from bass. I've heard Reggae Wooten slaps on guitar too, is it true?

i ****ed a pickup on my old strat trying to slap really hard on it :/

i think it only works on acoustics, heh

Isn't Kaki King his daughter or do they just share a last name, playing style, and record label?

According to their bios, Justin King is from Eugene and Kaki King is from Atlanta. Also, they look to be about the same age. I think it's probably coincidence.

i don't think there is any relation there...

justin is pretty much the man...i didn't watch the vids, i've probably seen them before...I really like the justin king clip where he has the double neck guitar and then starts hitting the body with his fingers as a purcussion instrument...very cool
