I did this for fun. I was inspired by those top ten TV programs. I thought Marcus Miller would amass the highest point total (based on the categories I created, admittedly created most unscientifically). What are your thoughts? See attachment... |

And, he's pretty innovative, though not as much as Jaco, but is one of the more innovative bassists in his genre, though he's not the fat cat in rock, IMO.
I would also say JPJ was was the best "rock" bassist there.
That is all. I think your Marcus Miller part was spot-on. If you were to do all compositions, not just on bass, I'd say he would be #1 there, as well.

I can see where it's (you're) coming from, but honestly: "Slap Cat" and "You Tube Bass Stars" merit categories equal to "Pioneer", "Influence", and "Composer"? And what does "Grammy Awards and Nominations" have to do with actual music? Any real musician will tell you, perhaps discreetly, that the Grammies are all about hype, buzz, PR - and sales - not necessarily music.
While some of these ratings make perfect sense (i.e. Mark King gets a "10" for "Slap Cat", and Geddy Lee gets a "10" for "Rock Cat"), why does Steve Bailey not get a ranking at all under "Studio Cat" (he's the consummate studio cat), and Michael Manring gets no recognition at all under "Pioneer" (he's clearly one of the most pioneering bassists ever)?
Oh, and by the way: Where is the entry for Chris Squire?

Wow! Larry Graham a 5 for pocket? A 9 for influence?? Really? James Jamerson has no score at all for recordings??
