Bass players that sing lead vocals

Sign in to disble this ad
I know alot of us appreciate Geddy. But there are actually quite a few bass playing lead vocalists. Those of us who have tried, (and not quite succeeded), realize how difficult this can be at times. My favorite: Tony Lewis from The Outfield, is a very solid bass player, and incredible vocalist. I really enjoyed their later albums as well as "play deep." Let us in on some of your favorite singing bassists....

Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy) was pretty awesome. ditto Les Claypool. as far as ones that come to the top of me head:

Tom Araya (Slayer)...
ummm...

yep, those are the only other 3.

oh, Brian Wilson?

Rick Danko of The Band, they didn't really have a lead singer but Rick sang lead on many tunes.

This topic has been covered previously, but it's still fun.

One of my top five favs is the guy from Riverside. I forget his name. Riverside is a prog band from Poland.

I'm a bassist / lead singer.
I do about 45% of the lead vocals in my band.

I'm always surprised how long it takes before the Godfather John Symon Asher (Jack) Bruce is mentioned in these threads.

I always appreciated Richard Page of Mr. Mister.

They were my first band I appreciated as a (pre)teen discovering music. No boy groups for me, no. You all can't tell me that "Broken Wings" doesn't have a memorable bass part, and the man's voice is great. Good range, and he uses it well.

I loooooooove Jack Bruce. When I found out he sang lead, that was it. It was all over. I am still surprised by how incredible he is. I wish he was immortal...so he could continue to make music for us forever.
