I mean, there's no way to overestimate how he brought rock and roll into the mainstream, but other than maybe some of the real early stuff, he never did much for me. Seeing him playing bass does up my appreciation of him a bit, though. I wonder if he was any good?

I believe these pictures are from the "Jailhouse" period - 1957 (early stuff, indeed). At this point, there was nothing cooler. This was most likely Bill Black's '57 P-bass.
