LOL He can't but he's getting better. These days his son plays backup while he sings.

I never was a big Elvis fan. I mean, there's no way to overestimate how he brought rock and roll into the mainstream, but other than maybe some of the real early stuff, he never did much for me. Seeing him playing bass does up my appreciation of him a bit, though. I wonder if he was any good?

Another vote for the Crimson boys. Lake and Wetton looked badder than anyone back in the day and Tony Levin has the best bass stance on the planet IMHO.

I know what you are saying.

I believe these pictures are from the "Jailhouse" period - 1957 (early stuff, indeed). At this point, there was nothing cooler. This was most likely Bill Black's '57 P-bass.

Post army and movies, it was over and onto the Beatles.

Wow, Six pages and no mention of Gail Ann Dorsey. For shame.

Ok, no one said the singer had to sing into a mic! Given that freedom, I know (for me) who the ultimate look is for a bass player that sings. Of course, it's the bass player/"sing along", not "sings". BUT WHO CARES?
