I hope we can have some fun with this. Which bassist(s) influenced your bass purchase(s)?
For me, Graham Maby & Mike Kroeger for my Spector through-neck 5 string bass:

By the way, +1 on the Louis Johnson for me too. | +1 on Jamerson. After starting to study his work, I went out and bought a P-bass & strung it with heavy gauge flats.
My other main electric bass, a StingRay5, was influenced a bit by Tony Kinal, Tim Commerford, and Flea. I think Tony is the only one of those 3 that played a 5. They are the guys that I listened to a lot when I first started. In 2002ish, when I first played a StingRay5, I knew I had to have one. I think it's a safe bet that part of it was remembering the tone of those guys from several years earlier.
