I slipped across the river last night and caught The Wall live. I saw more spectacle in the first three minutes of the show than most concerts will roll out over two hours.
I was into Floyd in a massive way when The Wall came out. But my tastes constantly change, so I haven't listened to that album since I boxed up my turntable in the mid 80s. I basically wore the grooves right off that album. It was a big deal for me. I started getting paid to play bass the year it was released, so it was amazing to have the chance to see the performance of that album 30 years later.
Let's get all geeked out and talk about the bass rig. I did a quick search and couldn't find a thread that was already doing so.
I was 11 rows back from the stage and it looked to me like the two Ampeg 810 cabs were those limited production ones from a few years back that had cast drivers (Edens, perhaps?) instead of stamped ones. Those ones look slightly different from the regular issue fridge cab and they have dish handles on the sides.
I couldn't be sure, but the head could have been a Mesa 400+, then there was a rack full of stuff.
Anyone know the details?

It was very touching how he fused today's war issues and soldiers stories, pictures etc as a tribute. I was moved as was my wife...plus it flat out rocked!

IIRC he's pictured with a 410 + 115 speaker setup and now I'm doubting that what I saw was a pair of 810s. I'm not sure if an endorsement pic represents the actual rig that an artist uses on a tour.
What's a bit of a mystery to me was that the entire backline including the drum kit was moved from behind the wall to in front of it at some point after the intermission. I actually missed all that because of the scale of everything that was going on (prejections, etc.). For that matter, I almost completely missed the airplane crashing into the stage at the end of the first song. When you're down in front of the stage, there's almost too much to take in all at once.

Remember, he does not play bass on a lot of those tunes and the guy who does some of the backup guitar work also plays bass. The ampeg rig could have been Roger's or the other bassists! At the same time, just because someone is endorsed by something does not mean they use it on the big stage, the big tour or huge show.
I caught the Wall in Chicago on the third night. Great show.

I caught the Wall in Chicago on the third night. Great show. | It looked to me like they shared the same bass rig but played their own basses.
