| | | | I've never seen Victor Wooten live but he has got some insane chops. His technique is really smooth and flowing. Flea definately needs to be mentioned in this thread. I just saw him live Sunday and I got a serious reality check of how good he is. Don't let some of his simple riffs he plays in the Chilli Pepper's songs fool you; this cat can play! |

My votes go to Phil Lesh (for his interaction with the other players on stage and his speech at the end of every show), Stanley Clarke (for the sheer impressiveness of his talent and his interaction with the audience) and Jaco (for the rubber band face, the back-flips, the bass-whippings and of course the talent).

Because jumping around looking like a douche is great
In fact, with the inclusion of the word "chops" there, in my estimation that disqualifies Flea from this thread...
But guys with chops and stage presence?
Jonas Hellborg
Stanley Clarke
Mark King
Victor Wooten
Jaco Pastorius
Billy Sheehan
Bill Dickens
Geddy Lee
Stuart Hamm
Dave LaRue
Kai Eckhardt
And so on... |

If you ever watch Verdine play, you'll notice that his dance moves are as funky fresh ad his bass lines. What a performer! I try to emulate him in my disco band. Verdine is King. |

for example:
mcvie
JPJ
entwistle (RIP )
but as far as both: GEDDY!
and as previously mentioned, verdine white is such a weirdo - i love it!

| Wow... you must be one of those boring type of guys but I must admit that you listed some technically very good players I love Jonas Hellborgs playing.
But back to topic: Justin chancellor |

The only reason why you wouldn't spend the whole show looking at him is that the rest of Fishbone is also incredibly entertaining (Angelo boxing with a Theremin? Get out!). |

Seeing live clips does equate as seeing live. That's just my humble opinion. Victor is AMAZING and MIND BOGGLING live. You have to witness it. Looking at him on youtube or on a DVD is not nearly the same experience.
My vote goes to:
Victor Wooten
Flea
Les Claypool
Michael Gordon
Trujillo
George Porter
Aston "Family Man" Barrett
Erol "Flabba" Holt
Robbie Shakespeare
Phil Lesh
The dude that played with Jamiroquai when I saw them
Mike Watt
