I don't know if anyone is into them, I think they're pretty good, but if you've ever watched their bassist, he like..attacks the strings really weird like he's slapping them like you'd slap a mosquito on your arm or something..hard to explain..anyone ever seen this..or even know what he's doing? Cool technique, he must be good at it. Does it just serve for a growly sharp tone or something? |

I think he has a good sound for what they do (at least on the recordings; I haven't heard them live), but I don't know if that technique is how he achieves it or if it's how he eq's his rig. The singer is a big dude with even bigger hair, and that tiny tiny high voice comes out of him. Seriously the hardest I've ever laughed at a music video. The band is tight though, don't listen to them that much due to the vocal.

Does it just serve for a growly sharp tone or something? | coheed has been my favorite band since they started, and michael todd is one of the main reasons i play bass today. they way he is able to back up the rythem guitar and drummer and do his own thing is what made me want to play. i think i know the technique your talkin about, and i've tried it and it is tricky and takes some practice.

The only time I've really seen him bang the strings is on the "Welcome Home" video. Other times he seems to play with a normal finger-plucking technique.
