Along with locking in with the drums, licking the guitarist is one of a bassist's primary duties.

I'm far from Kiss' biggest fan but I went to a show a few years ago and man what a show. I understand what they are trying to do. Even though it isn't my thing they do very well. I was extremely entertained at that concert.

Like Alice Cooper said, they're a good band, they just need a gimmick.

Bassist as Defined by KI$$. "An individual with highly developed business sense who hires another, more musically skilled individual to play bass on his albums"

Just joking for goodness sake...

In an interview with Simmons, he stated that he and the other members of Kiss aren't musicians, they're showmen. So there you go.

Also, look how tiny the Punisher bass is in Gene's hands. He's 6'5" and that's a 34." That's why I use a 30.5" scale at 5'8."

I by no means think Gene Simmons is the best bass player. But, who ever said you have to be the best? I've seen plenty people that because of thier talent level they just overplay and take away from what in my opinion the role of the bass player is. I'm sure through some of thier albums Paul or a hired gun has played instead of Gene just to keep the "brand" alive, but I think alot of the songs Gene has played on are very cool bass lines. Kinda reminded me of Paul Mcartney lines at times. Anyway, nice pics

FYI - I am on the cheering side for several reasons.

Great pics.

He's there to put on a show, man. Did he put on a show? Yes? Good.

Fantastic phone pics, by the way. How does one even get such great quality? My regular camera isn't even this good, man!

The thing about Gene not playing on the albums is only partially true. He did have people come in to play root notes in the 80s. That's it.

Anywho, I don't think a mediocre musician woul dbe able to write and compose something like these:
