Bassist hyper-active on stage

I just finished watching a concert DVD of EW&F. Verdine is a monster on bass. What I don't understand is how the heck he can play all those complex bass lines while moving and dancing like a maniac throughout the concert?

Any others bassists who are hyper active on stage?

i've heard rumors that a lot of his parts are pre-recorded these days. but there was a time when they weren't and he still kicked just as much ass. he's just that good, that's how he does it.

I have the EW&F / Chicago DVD, and yeah there are sure a few moments where it's pretty obvious he's miming. As above tho, there were days, many many of them , where it was All Verdine, killin it, all the time.

There's some stuff from a new years eve concert in oakland back in the day, on youtube. The whole band just givin it, every last one of them. full costumes, on satage illusions, the whole big beautiful deal.

That being said, I would not even dare to challenge Mr. White to a "run in place at 120bpm and play some serious bass" contest even today. He's still #1 on that score.

Flea, definitely is hyper active.

Can't think of anyone else at the moment

I move around the most on stage in my band, but considering two of our guys sit (keys and drums) and our guitarist is too busy using effects it`s only natural that I would be the one moving the most.

But anyways, Sting moved around quite a bit when he was younger... Although I think most of that was the coke he was doing...

plus with all those deep keyboard parts, it makes it hard to distinguish the bassline
anyways... Verdine White is the man though...
