Can anyone ID this cat? He was in Toronto last night with Israel & New Breed:
Doesn't look like Terrance Palmer, who I thought was the regular guy that toured with Israel.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised they mixed his MTD fairly well, with the thunderous lows and sparkly high end clearly audible through the mix. He was ripping it up all night and want more info...! |

I agree the man's talented and has some serious chops all the way around. I wouldn't mind it if he taught me a thing or two about either instrument. His bass playing makes me want to use my bass like a coffee table...I can't play like that at all...
J/K..I am thankful for what I can do. Whether I suck or not!

I have played with some people in church settings that definitely bring the average back down to normal, at best. |

No question that in larger urban markets, some of the best players around can be seen in church bands on a regular basis. Especially drummers and bassists, IME. In smaller markets like mine, OTOH, the talent level is a lot more hit-and-miss. Lots of worship leaders doing the best they can with whoever they can get on the stage on a Sunday morning, and volunteers at that a lot more often than not.

I think it's high time to get some of these young fellas in church some lessons and let them blossom into guys like Justin. I know 2-3 kids in my church just waiting to take their place when they're old enough.

My church tried to do this for a little while but for a variety of reasons we just couldn't keep it going. You really have to people who are drop-dead committed to a program like that to really make it work, so I give huge props to anyone who has been able to do so. |

There's nothing more disappointing than trying to hear serious gospel chops on an MTD or Smith mixed into a formless, subsonic mush.
Thanks for the name. So it was Raines. It seems he's lost the dreads now, though unlike Samson, this brotha still had groove for days! |
