As a bassist, who are your favourite drummers?

(OK, I know this isn't strictly a 'Bassist' forum question... but)

Listening as a bassist to music, sometimes I listen 'past' the bass and tune in to what the drummer is doing, even conjuring my own lines. I realised after doing this for a while that I have my own favourite drummers, those who do the things that create opportunities for bassists to shine.

Some of my faves include Lucius Borich (Cog), Clive Burr (Maiden), Jeff Porcaro (Toto), to name just a couple.

Some drummers thrive as part of a rhythm section, whereas others just thrash away and the bass keeps up...

As a bass player, who are your favourite drummers?

Forgot also Mike Clark, true....it's difficult to name all my favorites....
I like Clark especially with Herbie Hancock (of course!) and on "Do they hurt?" by Brand X...

+1. Seeing him live is the proof. The guy is a ****ing monster.

Also, the guy from Death Cab for Cutie was a surprise (just saw them recently) -- he doesn't play loudly, and he uses unusual patterns; but they all support the song well. I would describe his playing as "erudite"; educated.

The Almighty, for me, though, has to be Harvey Mason. The playing on Headhunters changed my life.

I played with Joel Taylor way back when we were in college together 25+ years ago. He was a monster back then, but I only recently found out that he's been playing with Allan Holdsworth, Brian Bromberg, Stanley Clarke, Andy Summers... yikes!

As for the OP's question: the last time someone asked that here (in this thread Your Favourite Drummer(s)...Why? or maybe it was this thread If you could work with any drummer..) I mentioned:

- Bill Bruford
- Stewart Copeland
- Terry Bozzio
- Matt Cameron
- John Bonham
- Billy Cobham
- Omar Hakim
- Steve Gadd
- Manu Katche
- Mike Clarke
- Joey Baron
- Gene Lake
- Narada Michael Walden
- Simon Phillips
- Ronald Shannon Jackson
- Wil Calhoun
- Danny Gottleib
- Kenwood Dennard
- John Robinson
