Sign in to disble this ad
Well since we had the "bassists with cutting tone in rock music?"
I thought We might talk about some metal players who stand up in the madness metal music can Be. So who do you think of
I´ll Start with:
Ron Royce-Coroner
David Vincent-Morbid Angel, Terrorizer
Danni Lilker-Nuclear Assault
Greg Christian-Testament
D.D Verni-Overkill

So Now´s your turn

P.S: Slipknot, tool, System of whatever are not metal bands.

They are techically. Where did you get the idea they are not? Slipknot are nu metal, Soad are alt metal and Tool are weird metal.
They are still metal.......

Good luck getting a response with such a narrow minded view of what music is!

My vote is for Derek Smalls of Spinal Tap.

A lot of people consider all of them to be Numetal, and not metal. Genres are stupid, but a line has to be drawn somewhere. Most metalheads just happen to draw that line so that numetal =/= metal.

But yeah back to the point-DAVE ELLEFSON

edit: oops fixed quotes

I´m not just narrow minded, I have heard those bands and none of them seem to be Metal at least to me and the concept I have of metal music. Now If you believe they´re metal, beacuse MTV says so that your decision. Maybe I should have put that in the first place.

Though I'm not a fan of either of them, the three Nu bands you listed do have cutting tone in metal music, regardless of the variation. But I think it's pointless to talk about them because it's been done to death.

I wouldn't consider Tool "Nu", being around since 1992. But yea, cutting tone none the less...

Frank Bello of Anthrax.... His tone is currently my fav tone in metal. Sean Yseult of White Zombie had great tone also (depending on the album).

For metal, I would say the bassist who stand out in the mix the best would be Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath, GREAT undistorted bass tone.

I don't remember his name, and I'm not going to bother digging out the album booklet, but the bassist on Death's "Individual Thought Patterns". I don't know if he played on all of their stuff, but I have that album, and the bass playing is great. He plays fretless too, the only bassist I know of that does in that style. Great album.... I think I'll take another listen to it.

Oh, well I guess since most people don't consider Tool metal, I'm not allowed to :/ What an original, open minded way of thinking.

Statement makes no sense. What people think is the only way genres are defined.

Oh, well I guess since you consider Tool to be metal, everyone else in the world has to as well :/ What an original, open minded way of thinking.

Hey man, didn't you read the question? Frank Bello of Anthrax is "Thrash Metal"! We're talking about "Metal" here...ok??? If it's not Maiden, or some guy dressed in black from Sweden talking about burning down churches, it doesn't qualify...ok?

Fair enough, now this thread is limited to guys who played "Thrash" Metal in 1984, or NORWEIGENS dressed in black leather jackets down to the floor...talking about burning down churches.

Oh, and Steve Harris, of the ONLY METAL BAND ON THE PLANET...Iron Maiden.
