Well, when we look around the front man is usually the lead singer, but wait, some of the these bands have bassists that are "smarter than the average bear"! Who are they:
I'll start with the obvious:
1. Sir Paul McCartney
...the rest:
Roger Waters (after all, he wrote money, maybe he didn't record the lines but he knows where the money is - song writing.)
Gene Simmons - girl friend (s) one of the hottest playmates we all idolized as youngsters, over 60 years old and still going strong in the bed, studio and on TV.
Continue the list....

He most likely isn't doing Macca or Simmons numbers, but I'd take his salary any day. A guy with that kind of experience, industry recognition and skill set doesn't come cheap.
Many well-known bass heroes that have been around for quite some time have considerable investments in non-music ventures and own lots of property.

No wonder he's smiling all the time.
And of course you can't forget Randy Jackson, who's ridden his studio, touring, production and label cred all the way to the American Idol franchise. |

But, yeah,...Sting. $20,000 USD/month in royalties off of one song alone. Nice.

| | Gettin' medieval on yo' bass... | | Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: new hampshire | | | The thing about Sting, McCartney, Geddy Lee, etc., is that they're also lead singers and songwriters - they're not necessarily "in the money" for their bass playing. Ricky Minor and Randy Jackson are also music directors or producers. Should we limit the candidates to people who make big money on sheer bass playing?

Apparently he (being a Seattle native) got a hot tip about Starbucks and got in on the ground floor. Not only that, but he went back to school after GnR for business. The last thing I read about him (a couple weeks ago) is that he's opened his own Wealth Management Firm.
I'd go so far as to say he is probably the richest member of Guns n Roses. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
