Bassists that use three fingers instead of two

Sign in to disble this ad
I've seen this technique used to great advantage in many situations, and I've gone as far as learning the technique myself. What bassists use three fingers?

I know there's John Myung, Alex Webster, and Steve DiGiorgio.

I read an interview years back where he mentioned it- it basically came down to that he started using three fingers because all of the other local bassists were using two, and he figured he'd go one faster If you listen to the song "The Toys Go Winding Down" off of Frizzle Fry, he plays very quick triplet sets throughout the song.

3 finger plucker here! Learning all those Rush bass lines drove me to using 3 fingers years ago

Just saw John Myung last night at Terminal 5...I'm wrecked from the show, but damn that man can play! Worth every penny.

Me - though mostly only for triplets and 16th note runs.

When I mentioned that I had learned to use 3 fingers on my right hand to my then
instructor his comment was "talk to me when you include the pinky." Still working
on that.

Common misconception apparently, 2 only. I always thought his galloping lines were 3-fingers, that's the only way I can play 'em, but he only uses two!
