Andrew Gouche, Rickey Minor, Adam Blackstone, Kern Brantley, and Ken Friend are a few bassplayers/bandleaders in the R&B/pop world.

Right you are. I also forgot Stanley Clarke, Dave ellefson and Lee Sklar, although doesn't Sklar only do sessions?
