I am weird...

Left:
write, bowl (cicket, not ten pin)

Right:
bass, throw, kick, eat, drum, bat

I am a south paw, but I do most stuff with my right hand.

I couldn't find a left-handded bass when I started playing in the early/mid eighties so I started on a right-handed instrument. So, I'm in.

Its good to know that I'm not some kind of monster.

Eat, throw, bat, bowl, text, talk on the phone, left handed

guitar, golf, some other stuff... right handed.

yep add me there, am a left handed who play right handed basses and even weird i play guitar to my left. im a bassist not a guitar player but when i pick up a guitar i felt more comfortable playing to my natural position "lefty" back in the day mayme 14 years ago a left handed bass wii cost you around $80 to $100 more and they were so hard to find so a lot of left handed guys do what my bass teacher suggest me,buy a right handed bass, challenge yourself and i never regret that desicion. (of course 1st post with my cell phone and sorry for my weak english lol)

I'm ambidextrous, with a slight preference for the left, but was pushed to the right in grade school for writing, and other things. So, I throw a ball righty,(although I can do so lefty as well), but I kick with my left foot. I can bowl with either hand, I use whichever one is working better when I bowl. I eat with either hand, doesn't matter. I used to be able to play guitar either way, before RA messed up my right hand. I used to pull guitars down off the wall, and it didn't matter if they were left or right, I could play them both. A lot of store clerks were just flabbergasted. I've never owned a lefty guitar or bass, although at one point I considered getting a lefty Hofner, just for fun.

One of the weird after-effects of being pushed to the right for writing is that I can write backwards with my left hand with nearly the same handwriting as my right hand forwards. My Dad was a carpenter, so I grew up with a hammer in my hand(s). He was right-handed, so I first learned to use a hammer righty. As I got older, I started experimenting, and discovered I could hammer a nail with either hand, equally. I also discovered I could use a paint brush with either hand, which came in handy when I was up on a ladder. I didn't have to move my ladder so often. Used to drive my Dad nuts, watching me....

I think that a lefty playing right-handed makes a lot of sense, since your dominant hand is on the fretboard. My brother is right-handed, but actually started playing guitar left handed, because he played trumpet, and the right hand fingers manipulate the valves. He decided it was better to learn to play the guitar right-handed, because lefty guitars were very scarce in our area. So he plays righty, but he plays acoustic only, and has never played in a band. He's not interested in it enough to pursue it.

BTW, count me in, at whatever number you want to give me....

My I think thats how I am. I'm mainly ambidextrous but with a little preference to left. My dad is (and always has been) pissed the kindergarten teacher, who made me choose between writing left and right (I'd do it when one hand got tired I'd use the other one ), didn't make me write right handed. He's a lefty at everything. Only exceptions is guitar and golf, both of which is because a lefty guitar/clubs wasn't available so he had to teach himself. He is currently learning to shoot a gun right handed because he is legally blind in his left eye.

I can do most stuff left or right except: writing (I can a bit), eating, throwing a ball and playing bass. Shooting a basketball is a tough one, cause I shoot right handed but I taught myself to shoot lefty on free throws and in emergency.

Another one here. I do everything left handed except play bass and guitar. I remember being around 9 or 10 years old, listening to Foghat "Slow Ride" on the radio playing air guitar left handed, when one of the older "cool" kids in the neighborhood told me I was doing it "wrong". For better or worse, a couple of years later when I picked up a real bass, I started playing right handed. Sometimes I wonder if there would be a difference in my playing if I had not been influenced by someone else and given in to the peer pressure of trying to fit in.

I dunno if I belong here or not. I write right-handed because my teacher would rap my knuckles with a ruler if I picked up a pencil with my left hand. I batted left, played kickball kicking left, my wallet & keys are in my left pockets. I can eat either hand, but I've always played guitar and bass righty. Maybe I'm just weird!

I'm in, too. I'm sorta kinda ambidextrous. I write and eat lefty, and throw righty. When I started playing, finding a left handed instrument seemed like a major PITA, so righty it was!

I'll take a number. Most sports I played righty if equipment was required (baseball and golf come to mind) and lefty if it wasn't. Guess which I was better at. I think the same reason is why I play righty bass. I have tried lefty basses, but after 25 years playing righty I think lefty is out of the question.

I am almost completely left handed except for bass playin and soccer.
I guess I play bass right handed because I have never played a lefty instrument in my life.
I played some guitar before taking up bass and the only guitar I had access to was a righty so..

I want a number!

Please Sir, may I have a number?

When I was 8 I started Guitar lessons. In my first leason my teacher told me he was going to teach me as if I was right handed. I never knew his reasoning and was ticked off at the time but pretty grateful today. It has made buying basses far easier and I can join in with anyone when there's a random bass guitar, electric or acoustic guitar lying around.

The only other thing I do right hand is Billiards.

I'm right leg dominent though.

I'm left-handed; write and eat lefty. I throw a baseball lefty (had to look for a glove to go on my right hand). I shoot (firearms) lefty.

But I play bass righty and bat righty. When I was first getting into guitars and basses at age 14, there were no lefty intruments around so I made myself play righty.

Glad I did though. All the hard work is in the left hand.
