I was a very early adopter of the 6-string contrabass guitar.

I was touring the international jazz circuit at the time, and had a hell of a time getting adequate amplification. All too often, I would find myself staring down an old B15 fliptop, and just know that my bass would be sounding like dog flatulence for the duration of our set.

Since I was also tour manager, I got to write the equipment rider, and always spec'd a good amp. I guess you could say that I am responsible/to blame (your pick) for making the GK/Hartke stack the defacto standard on the European tour circuit...

Anthony Jackson - his stuff with pianist Michel Camilo has been some of my favorite jazz since the album "Rendezvous" in 1993.

Wow. It`s nice to see accomplished people like yourself around here. You are the son of Astrud Gilberto, aren`t you?

Check out chilean bassist Christian Galvez

This chilean bassist was in tour with Stanley Clarke in 2007. Stanley took him on tour with himself after playing for the first time together in Chile in 2006.

Bill Dickens and Steve Bailey are two worth mentioning, and has Oteil Burbridge popped up yet?

As far as I know, he plays a 5 string.

Otherwise, Damian Erskine and Tony Grey. (most of the time with a 5, but he also plays a few 6)

+10 for all of the previously mentioned bassists! Also in the mix are Melvin Lee Davis, Darren Michaels, Norm Stockton, Yves Carbonne, Al Caldwell and Al Turner.

I always assumed that he played both because fedora makes a 6 string version of his bass.
