I was touring the international jazz circuit at the time, and had a hell of a time getting adequate amplification. All too often, I would find myself staring down an old B15 fliptop, and just know that my bass would be sounding like dog flatulence for the duration of our set.
Since I was also tour manager, I got to write the equipment rider, and always spec'd a good amp. I guess you could say that I am responsible/to blame (your pick) for making the GK/Hartke stack the defacto standard on the European tour circuit... |
