the great bass monster truck rally 2009

Mark Hoppus got his new custom shop bass for the Blink tour yesterday and has clips A/B-ing it with his old Sig Model. I love both sounds (ducks) but I'm thinking clip B is the new bass.

I guess I could've elaborated a bit, but that's what happens when you post half asleep....

Clip B has a slightly brighter tone; I would assume this is due to the new bass having a reverse P pick up....or it could just be brand new strings

Either way, the new bass is pretty sweet.

I feel like Bass 1 has a beefier tone, and I'm all 'bout beef. So I voted Bass 1!

Bass 1 gets my vote. Bass 2 sounds like it was lacking in comparison.

Would the rule, "the bass that suks soloed always sounds the best in the mix," apply here?

I voted bass 1. I thought bass 2 was lacking in comparison to it.

I voted 1 for the deeper tone. Does anybody else find it funny that the Mark Hoppus bass is under the "Jazz Bass" category on the Fender website? The only thing it has from the jazz is the body shape, everything else is pure precision even down to the use of a full pickguard instead of a control plate.

It sounds so well played here. Too bad it all goes to hell the second they go on stage.

Before you flame me, check out the vids from their first show back on YouTube. 'Feeling This', 'Dammit' and 'Rock Show'... yeesh.

I really dig the grind of Bass 2, but bass 1 also has it and I bet a lot of that grind on bass 2 would totally drown in the guitars, so compensate with a bit of bottom and you are there!

What I'm trying to say.. Bass1!!
