That one has been on heavy rotation for a while in my car. Can't get enough of it. The Everything Is Everything bass solo is classic. Maurice White was on drums? Never knew that.

im with you...astounding album..to be honest the best thing is Donny's voice...flat out the best singer ive ever heard...imho even better than Stevie and Aretha...the gospel in his voice blows me away..true power and control...

Willies bass playing of course is sublime..

LOVE that album - everything is great on it. Willie's solo on Everything in Everthing is classic, and also GROOVES while being a solo.

Hands down one of my favorite albums. It's required listening every month to 'get my head right'. That band was magical, and Willie's tone on it is why I play a pbass with flats. Plus, Donny Hathaway has the most amazing sense of phrasing. DIG IT!!!

Ya know me and another fellow bassist was just talkig about this cat yesterday, and both of us were discussing Willie's bass playing, and concluded that the solo that he performed on "Everything is Everything is proably one the best solos by a bassist ever not o mentioned his soulful playing on Chaka Khan's Papilon Butterfly on the "Naughty lp and other recordings as well....I mean this cat has been grooving like this for almost 40 yrs !

Check out his playing with Clapton on the new Crossroads DVD, perfect note choices for the songs.

Yes, Willie Weeks may be the best bassist out there. Also, check out Jerry Jemmott, particularly the Otis Rush and Freddie King albums. Just like Willie, he is as solid as they come. He and Willie are very much bass Gods to me.

man, i had to dig this one out and listen to it again...i'm on "jealous guy." whatever happened to sophisticated changes in pop music? this album is so full of great chord changes. you don't hear that much anymore and you used to hear it all the time.
