I'm not bashing Flea or Les or any of the others listed, but I know we can mark Krits off the list and replace him with...um....anybody. Specifically, Jeff Ament or Paul D'Amour or Justin Chancellor. Of those listed, I picked Claypool. |

What about
John Patitiucci
MeShelle N'DegeOcello
Stuart Zender?

Yeah, those listed players are pretty "standard" bass players (well...not all of them )
btw-can anyone fill me in on why Jason N. is know as being a "great" bassplayer? I'm not saying he's bad either I just want to hear some sweet stuff from him that makes me go "oooh, damn!". |

I've wondering that myself. Newstead seems like a nice guy and he did the part well, but he was never much of a solo player. I saw them live right after he joined the band. At one point in the night he did a solo and it seriously might have been the worst thing I've ever heard in my life. Basically, he just poured a ton of effects on and started picking as fast as he could. It was horrible. Almost as bad as the solo I saw Michael Anthony do where he played "raw Hide."
