You should do a search because this topic has been done a couple times, but Matt Freeman

I know music is subjective, but I'm pretty sure Frank Bello was a thrash bassist (not quite the same thing, IMO).

For punk I've always enjoyed Fat Mike.

bluestarbass 03-10-2013 06:45 AM

Well you did say best, not favorite. The guy from hot water music is pretty talented.

Barkless Dog 03-10-2013 07:26 AM

Mike Watt & Colin Molding

Although Anthrax would like to say they have punk roots, Frank Bello is most definitely a metal bassist, with a style straight out of the Steve Harris school of galloping. :)

However, their founder bass player, Dan Lilker, whilst essentially a metal bassist, certainly has a more punk feel to his playing.

To answer your question, Jay Bentley, Klaus Fluoride and the magnificent Rob Wright from NoMeansNo.

BenBL 03-10-2013 10:15 AM

Bruce Foxton and Paul Simonon

The Mouse 03-10-2013 10:19 AM

Mike Watt, Rob Wright..

SoLongJake 03-10-2013 10:28 AM

Jason black from hot water music followed by Dan from alkaline trio are my two favorites.

Dee Dee, the dude from the buzzcocks. sami yaffa . Frank Bello is good but not punk.

SunnBass 03-10-2013 10:38 AM

+1 to Jason Black

I'll add David Wm. Sims.

But as far as "best", but not "favorite" it's gotta be Mike Watt.

I just hope no one says Mike Dirnt, but I know it's gonna happen

Blenin 03-10-2013 10:40 AM
