| | | | Best records from solo bass players

Hope there's not a thread like this already, but i've been increasingly more interested in listening to solo bass players' records.
Until now i only know these ones:
jaco pastorius - jaco pastorius
victor wooten - a show of hands
stu hamm - radio free albemuth / outbound
which are probably the most famous ones. The thing is that i never listened to anything from artists such as jeff berlin, steve bailey, larry graham, michael manring, stanley clarke, john patitucci, etc.
So, in your opinion, what are the best solo albums you have listened to? it can be from the artists i mentioned or any other one.
For example, i listened to brady muckelroy in the bassplayer tv and loved him! really melodic and pretty bass lines. So if you know any other bass player, specially the ones who focus on the melody, let me know!
Let's make a list of essential solo bass albums without falling in an argument about the subjectivity of what "essential" means! Let's say essential are the ones that we think that other bass players should listen. |

| | | tim99 thanks! that's some pretty awesome links! loved all three bassists, specially jeff schmidt.
and even though that list includes lots of non-solo bass playing albums, it's a damn fine list as well!
and Nate Cole, here's the opinion from Jeff Schmidt himself on what you're wondering: http://www.beautiful-bass.com/weblog...ce_1.html#more
i've been having that argument with many people for years, and i agree with schmidt here. i guess you can be that good if you want to
on a side note, does schmidt has any album released? |

And yes, I did see the same thing on Jeff Schmidt: tuned in reverse order like Jimmy Haslip! |

Check him out. I have known the guy for a decade now (great guy as well). He makes great MUSIC in an unhurried and relaxed way that makes others think (not to mention that i thought of going for the triangle as a music instument after i heard his stuff!!! Another professional bass player friend of mine said he'd switch to flugenhorn!!!) |
