I can never get enough of the main riff from Schism, but my favorite song is Parabola.

I think you could get every Tool song under the sun
I mean for me theres ALOT... so sorry I can't put it down to one good song

from the simple playing of the first EP to the crazy stuff that Justin has pulled off later...

46&2, pushit, H., third eye, lateralus, the grudge, schism, the patient, triad, jerk off, jambi, the pot, right in two... that has to be my minimum for fav song/bass lines...

If I had to pick one, its down to two:
46&2,...
a) the song is EPIC
b) it starts to complex but not overly so radio friendly to most non tool listeners (even more epic ability)
c) not many people from first guess think that the intro is bass or get confused between bass and guitar in the song at times
d) the ending is awesome...

H.
a) awesome tool contrasts between ambient, loud, effect driven, clean (ish)
b) bass dictates alot of the song
c) just powerful...

thats about as helpful as I'm ever going to get

There so many good basslines.. like The Pot..
But I would Pick "Right in Two"

And as best song musically "Roseta Stoned"
Lyrically and Musically : "Lateralus"

ALL TOOOL!

Right in two is depressing but awesome.

My personal fav is Jambi. followed closely by Parabol/a

There are simply too many.

46 & 2: the intro, where the pedal note changes from open d to f (try it, its a tricky switch)

aenima: the second verse with the chord changes over the open d, the 16ths over the "fret for your.." section and the ascending section which follows it, and the distorted dissonant chord in the outro

schism: the main riff and solo of course, but also the chords under the "cold silence.." section that follow the vocals...it still throws me.

lateralus: just a work of bass genius, less is more, more is more, double tracks, guitar and bass trade offs, whammys...!

surprisingly, most of 10,000 days hides some of justins best work. vicarious: check out the bass only track on youtube, the playing on the whole song is awesome, but that chorus...oh man i just love it.

jambi: the line under the guitar solo, subtle but brilliant

10,000 days: fretless (allegedly) played classical guitar fingerstyle.

the pot: tricky intro that sounds easy, 2(!) bass solos

lost keys: VOLUME!!!!

rosetta stoned: again allegedly fretless with some frankly crazy lines.

intension: a very tricky fretless line that have caused some to claim its double tracked....its not!

right in two...beautiful whammy work.

can you tell he's my favourite bassist?

Baseline for Schism...

Love the lyrics to Sober, I'd have to say that right now that's my fave Tool song.

Favorite Tool song?!
I don' think I'll be able to answer such a difficult question.

But I quite like Disposition, Pushit, Reflection, Vicarious, Sober, and Fortysix & 2.

I am going to go out on a limb and throw out Disposition and Reflection for the spacey stuff!
Disposition for the brilliant use of harmonics and etheral whammy work.
I love playing Reflection. It has a pulsing hypnotic quality that follows my heartbeat.
Those to songs give me goosebumps...

Best tool song? I'd say either Pushit or Hooker with a Penis.

Best bass line? I'm going with Rosetta Stoned.

Hard to choose. Tool is literally my favorite band ever. In between tours and monster albums, I've focused on Mastodon, Baroness and most recently...Rush.
