Billy Cox (Jimi Hendrix Bassist) Any Info On Him? What Is He Up To?

This man must be laying low. Outside of the most recent Band Of Gypsies return album, I have not heard anything else about this guy.

This guy is a master of groove. Jimi's late career live stuff like band of gypsies and when he replaced noel redding making the band just jimi, him and mitch mitchel (My favorite incarnation of jimi's band).

Where is he?

I actually got the extreme pleasure of seeing him live about a year ago in a Jimi Hendrix tribute concert. Before Mitch Mitchell died too. So that was great too. I dunno what hes up to now but I know he plays out every once in awhile.

Billy is seriously underrated IMHO. He might not have appeared on countless record or played with the most faces (altough having played with Hendrix is monumental), but he still slays.

That wiki also made me realize that Noel Redding had passed away. I guess I was living under a rock in '03.

Well, Jimi died at age 27 in 1970 and Billy was in the army with Jimi (same age, roughly) so he's around 66 years old and probably taking it easy.
I agree that he's a great player.
I liked his playing with Jimi much more than Noel. To me, the Jimi/Billy/Mitch lineup of Woodstock and Cry Of Love / First Rays Of The First Rising Sun was the best.
Band Of Gypsy's ripped too.
He had such great feel, lines and an awesome distorted tone (Marshalls - yeah!).
Jimi was going in such a cool, funky and progressive direction before he died.

Here's some studio footage of Billy and Buddy Miles, possibly recording the Band of Gypsies Return album:

Buddy Miles passed away last year at 60.
