For those of you who have the Woodstock CD, I can't stop listening to Red House! I've been trying to nail that song! I love Billy Cox's style!

I love the passing tones and in between notes (i'm trying to describe his style here) when he plays. I love his tone! Nice, thick but not muddy, you can distinguish his notes!

I love the way he plays, he doesn't even dig in, he appears lazy, just slightly stroking the strings very lazy with his fingers. I've been studying this man! His style is just cool man.

I don't know much about him or what else he did outside of gypsy sun and rainbows and Band of gypsies though.

I'm not to much of a gear head so I don't know what types of basses he played during each concert or what amps he uses and all of that stuff. I wanna check for his signature bass but the guitar center never has it.

Any who, if any bass player influenced me it's him followed closely by eric wilson of sublime and tim C from audioslave.

Anybody have more info on billy cox. I'm just a young guy, i'm sure somebody knows something.....

+100 I love his style - SO soulful! Really had good R&B chops. I love his stuff offa Live at the Fillmore!! Cox & Miles were piledrivers!

And Cox + Mitch Mitchell behind Hendrix is my fav group. He just added so much to the foundation of Hendrix's songs and soundscapes. Very solid player.

Here's this:

or there is some stuff on Google and in Hendrix biographies
