I had the good fortune to see the reunited Faith No More at the Download festival last week.
In addition to being an amazing gig, and the fact that they played Cuckoo for Caca, Billy Gould had one of the best live bass sounds I have ever heard.
I want a Zon.
That is all.

Also does he still have that "grunt" sound he had on The Real Thing and Angel Dust?

They were stunningly good and Billy Gould & Mike Bordin are a serious, serious rhythm section.

Here is a link to a clip from Download, sounds pretty similar to the old stuff I reckon!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcK5Q...om=PL&index=32
You get a good look around the 2.00 mark.

the punchline?
he was supposed to be reviewing it for the times!!!
i wonder how THAT review turned out?!

That said, when watching footage from a couple other festivals they played on recently, I spotted that he was using two Ampeg stacks. And yep, he sounded pretty much the same using them.
It's a shame I didn't really have the cash to see their show in Frankfurt on Tuesday, according to the videos I've seen, they played "King for a Day" and it sounded pretty much just like on the record! The video quality was so bad that I couldn't even tell if Jon was using an acoustic for the verses, but my guess is he wasn't and used some kind of pedal to approximate an electric acoustic sound. |
