I've got to open for alot of great cats.
Muddy Waters, John Lee hooker, Albert Collins, SRV, Chuck Berry, Buddy Guy, Lil' Ed , Johnny Winters and a buch more.
I like useing a Precision with flats through a B-15.
Only difference between blues and rock and roll is tempo , you know?

| Not sure if I have a favorite, although Duck Dunn probably has the strongest influence on where I like to center my style.
Need to also mention JPJ since my very first walking bass line was playing Zeppelin's THE OCEAN when I was kid in my first garage band. Very cool when a song opens a kids eyes to a whole world beyond riding the root.

Gayden, who played for Albert Collins and Johnny Winter and did the bass on the Showdown album, with AC and Robert Cray and Johnny Copeland. I love Dave Smith, too, from Buddy Guy's Heavy Love album who I saw one night with Mighty Sam McClain. And Tommy Shannon will always be my favorite guy for quintessential blues bass.

Slim and Kenny are like my Blues Bass Mentors. It's real cool to have people encourage you, even after you bomb on stage at the Blues Jam. (Last nite was rough.) |

Blues jams are for just that! And you never, never stop paying dues! Remember that. I have been smack in the middle of a lot worse then last night! Whatever it was, it wasn't real noticeable, we can fix that!
Moving on to this club thing. I guess I introduce myself, here! Been playing over 45 years, but full time blues since I moved to Memphis in 94. Became a Beale St. sub, then regular, and have toured most of America with Jason Ricci, Delta Highway, Harmonica Red, and briefly, Little Dave Thomas. I'm back on Beale now, playing twenty gigs a month, but will stop what I'm doing for another good road gig. I play a 74 Precision I bought new, and a new MIM Precision modified with Fat Tone Pick ups. GHS pressure wound strings are on both. Main gigging amp at the moment is a MarkBass R500 untill my GK1001 gets out of the shop. My goal is to have a speaker cabinet or stack at every gig so I don't have to lift anything any more! lol I prefer tens, but my SWR 4X8 and 8X8 are killer cabinets! Got a good ol' Ford van with two back benches and a current pass port, I'm good to go!
So......................

I do other types of music, no doubt, but roots music and r&b is where its at in this city. I've also recently rediscovered my love of the P-bass. My rig consists of a LM II 250 into a 4ohm Avatar Neo 1x12 for most small gigs. My bass is a japanese 60s reissue neck from the 1990s with a new home on a white Squier VM body with the Duncan designed pickup. Killer setup and light too!
I'll have the priviledge of playing with harmonica legend and virtuoso Lee Oskar this Saturday night, so if yall are down here for jazzfest, Hit me up!

Blues_bassist started this club for us blues bassists but hasn't come around much, so some of us other guys have been handing out the numbers.
I'm pretty new to these talkbass club things, but near as I can tell when you join a club you get a number that you can add to your sig and all the bragging rights that come with it.
So here ya go...
#50 Slim Louis
#51 Crunktacular
