Bobby Vega-smoking pick player!

I know that sometimes there are pick bashing (and pick defending) threads on TB. EMG, Bass Frontiers and Dave Fowler brought in Bay Area Bass Great Bobby Vega for a clinic last Wednesday. Amazing, amazing player. He plays great with his thumb, fingers, pick whatever. He showed us all how he played "What is Hip?" with TOP using his pick. He and Anthony Jackson are my two favorite pick players, bar none (well, lots of props and healthy respect for Chris Squire and Sir Paul, of course!).

Bobby Vega is not only the funkiest pick bass player I have ever heard, but his pocket might even be to big for Godzilla's overalls! Bobby is truly an artist who can seriously throw down the groove. I suggest you all check him out as he deserves way mo love then he gets............

The stuff he did on Sly Stone's "high on you" LP was smokin'. Crossword Puzzle was even sampled by De La Soul on "Say No Go". One funky cat !!!

I ran across Bobby Vega, weirdly enough, on a review of a Capri Orange Fender Jazz that caught my eye on eBay recently.

Quickly found out how amazing this guy is and was shocked I hadn't already found out about him. He so inspired me that I decided to send him a quick e-mail to send respect his way. A couple hours later, I got a call from the man himself thanking me for my message. Made my day! It's always encouraging when great talent is paired up with a great person.

You should check out him playing the p's on that same youtube channel. He just always kills it. Also makes me realize why I dont like Chromes on a j bass. If BV cant make it sing, it must be the string
