For sure I love the old Parliament Funkadelic stuff and anything he does on his own. Even better he plays his own sig model traben.

Bootsy

I am not sure what I think of Bootsy. I guess when he was young kid playing with James Brown and Bobby Byrd he was cool.

I am just not into wahs and weird effects

His silliness is unsurpassed. Why be average? Theres way too much of that as is.

The lesser known??? Bootsy stuff??

Praxis : Transmutation
Praxis : Sacrifist
Zillatron : Lord of The Harvest
Bucket Head : Monsters and Robots
Bucket Head : Bucket Head Land
Material : Hallucination Engine
Material : Third Eye open

I think theres more stuff with Laswell, Zorn, and Nicky Skopelitis, Just cant remember the titles right now.

I use Bootsy's Funk Formula all the time in all sorts of musical genres.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHE6hZU72A4

The first time I watched it a few years back, I thought it was near idiotic. Then I stumbled across it again a while back, and now it makes perfect sense.

Bootsy is one funky mofo.
And I agree, his over-the-top-ness is awesome.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone who just exudes MUSIC! as much as Bootsy. It just comes out of his pores. Whether he's talking, walking, or playing bass - the guy is amazing. I bet when he chews his food it's musical.

Boosty is bigger than bass - Boosty has the absolutely best attitude in the whole damn world! I wouldn't want everyone to roll like Boosty, but I do think we need more cats like him - All smiles, all fun and all funk!

To show that there are some talented bass players out there and some of them are funky. And Boosty thought enough of Thee Ram to take him under his wing and to help the world recognize such a talent.

And for those who may not know. Boosty today rarely if at all plays bass anymore.

I enjoy his musicianship and the image he's created for himself.
Wasn't Bootsy in a mutiny while in James Brown's band....took the JB's on the road without the Godfather Of Soul? That would take some brass ones!!

Nobody pimped the envelope filter like Bootsy. Absolutely great player, and no looks like they're having more fun than that cat. He's one of a kind, and a true inspiration.

Your post in this thread that had the link to Bootsy's proteges didn't have much of an explanation in it, that's all.
