So recently Ive been getting into some classic Bowie, mainly his "...Ziggy Stardust..." album. First of all, Im pleasantly surprised on the importance of bass in his music. Really prominent bass lines that 'make' the song.
The track "John, Im Only Dancing" has become one my favorite songs, and one of my favorite basslines. Its so trippy, and adds an extra element to the song. Does anyone know which bassist played with Bowie on this album, or any of his other albums?
thanks. |

thanks. | Funny you should mention this. I just listened to it in the car. Trevor Bolder is on bass for this album, and also on Aladdin Sane. He used a Gibson EB-3 for the recordings. The inserts for the Ziggy CD should have credits and a picture of the band. Trevor was the one in the humungous sideburns.

I'm sorry I didn't appreciate it when it was released because in my circle of friends it was panned as "fag Rock" *** did we know?? Nothing and by 74-75 I was all over that glam rock thing. I noticed the chicks really dug it too!! It was players like Trevor Bolder, Gary Thain etc that inspired me to play bass.

The Bewlay Brothers
Song For Bob Dylan
Andy Warhol
Fill Your Heart
Quicksand
Kooks
Life On Mars?
Eight Line Poem
Queen Bitch
Oh You Pretty Things
