Is it just me or were there an awful lot of pessimism in the Bass Player 20th Anniversary Mag? Keeping in mind that these are legendary players, there was an awful lot of doom and gloom.

... although Watt and Sheehan seemed pretty pumped!

No disrespect to those interviewed, but sheesh...

I thought the Berlin "musings' were very cynical and not at all happy happy.

I thought the pessimism was regarding industry rather than bass. That said... Yes

I read an interview recently with Jeff Berlin where he said he found it disappointing that big acts didn't use him for sessions. I know he was talking musically and the guy is a great player, but my immediate thought was - Maybe they are going for someone a bit less prickly

Maybe they don't want him blowing crap all over their music like he did with that Norah Jones song.

I'm a long time fan of Berlin's, but one can never underestimate the hang factor when it comes to getting and keeping gigs.

Yeah, Anthony Jackson's was a bit gloomy as well. There's something to be said about wisdom, but still.

+1 Proof positive that you can rip all kinds of hot licks and still sound like hot garbage. IMO/IME/YMMV/go ahead and make that bass sound like a nasal trombone and play a TON of 32nd notes!!!

LOL

The tone is just cringe worthy...

I am not a NJ or country fan but the overdubbing made it...bad.
