Brad Smith

OK, so I've been a big Blind Melon fan for years, but a friend of mine just got me the "Live At The Metro" DVD for my birthday, and I was forcibly reminded of what an incredible player Brad Smith is. Tasteful, precise, and keenly aware of the structure of the song.

It doesn't hurt that Rogers Stevens and Christopher Thorn write beautiful parts to compliment each other and the song. The 3 of them together create a bigger sound with 16 strings than most bands could with twice that.

I never got to see them live w/ Shannon Hoon before he died, but I did see them a couple times with the new guy. The 4 original members have aged well, and their performances, both individually and as a group, were astounding. I can only imagine what they could have done with a more successful rehab program.

PS -- If you like the coke, take it easy, OK?

Brad Smith?

Wasn't he in the Cure? I think you might be confused.

Different Smith. VERY different Smith.

Oh, and one other thought... I didn't mean to shun Glen Graham, but I was mostly thinking about the string work in this post.

Gotcha!

Sorry, I'm at work and bored. Had to screw around a bit to liven things up around here.

And I'm not much of a blind melon fan per se, but considering your opinion I'll give them some more play time with a different ear now. Thanks.
